About Catkins

Catkins is a unique pre-school established in 1987: we pride ourselves in our exceptionally caring staff / high staff ratio and unique surroundings, offering children aged 2-4 a magical place to learn and play etc. Catkins is foremost a family home which offers a calm and relaxed environment, together with a cosy and stimulating learning experience.

At the rear of the house we have a purpose-built early years room allowing the children to move freely between our mark making, music, maths, discovery play and construction areas. In the main downstairs space of the house we offer a creative craft area, play corner, messy play and book corner.

Outside we have a secure garden which has evolved into an exciting sensory space where the children can explore, relax and socialise. Look out for our fairy garden, glass tree, story house, bug hotel, outdoor class room with mud kitchen and our resident tortoise Arnie Plod.

Our aim at Catkins is to take great care of your child, encourage learning through play, help your child to reach their full potential, provide an inclusive learning environment and most importantly to have lots of fun.

In our latest (2017) Ofsted inspection we proudly received Good with Outstanding in Personal development, Behaviour and Welfare.
